FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: How do we check availability or make a reservation for Ceska Serenity? A: Contact our professional reservation partner. They will provide you all the information on how to make the reservation. Please note - in the past there have been shady online cabin reservation services claiming to be the booking agent for Ceska Serenity. Remember that only our reservation partner is authorized to accept and manage reservations for Ceska Serenity. Reservations made through un-authorized booking agents cannot be honored.
Q: What does it cost per night ? A: The prices vary depending on the season and how many nights you wish to stay. Obviously it is less expensive during non-holidays and mid-week dates. Rates are slightly higher in the winter and early spring due to increased energy costs. The more consecutive evenings you book at Ceska Serenity, the cost per night decreases significantly. You will find that compared to a local hotel room with similar amenities, we are on par with the market considering what is provided. The added value Ceska Serenity offers is much more privacy and an enjoyable real home-like cabin feel. There is no sharing of a common wall with noisy neighbors; no noisy cars or motorcycles passing by on the highway; no family in the cabin next door with kid's that are bored; no sharing a hot tub with 7 other strangers - it's all to yourself. When you leave after your stay we do the cleaning so you can spend more time relaxing before you depart. At Ceska Serenity, you are in a serene environment that you control.
Q: What do we need to bring? A: That's the best part. Unlike renting a family or friend's cabin, all you need to bring to Ceska Serenity are your required personal items. We provide all the clean fresh towels, bedding, pillows and pillow covers plus all blankets and throws. You just bring whatever food you might need if you wish to eat in.
Q: How do we get to Big Bear Lake, CA? A: The best way is to use your favorite online Mapping service like Google Maps or Yahoo Maps. Just enter in your start address and name Big Bear Lake, CA 92314 as the destination. Specific location of Ceska Serenity itself will be provided by our reservation agent after your booking is confirmed. As a general reference, Ceska Serenity is 10 minutes or less to the lake, Bear Mountain and Snow Summit Ski Resorts and everything else in the Big Bear Lake area.
Q: What's the Winter weather like at Ceska Serenity? A: In the winter months, the lows overnight can drop to the low teens while the highs can be up to the mid 40's (f). Winter weather changes quickly, so please plan accordingly. Big Bear Lake is known for it's unpredictable snow fall. It can be a clear day one hour, and the next be in the clutches of old man winter. California State law says that all cars and trucks (including 4x4) will carry chains at all times during the winter months. This law is heavily enforced by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and San Bernardino County Sherriff's Department. A word of warning, the CHP Officers and Sherriff's Deputies do indeed actively enforce the chain law, so make sure you have them when traveling in the mountains that time of year.
Q: What's the Summer weather like at Ceska Serenity? A: In the summer months, the lows can get down to the 40's (f), with the highs sometimes in excess of 80 (f). Even during the hottest time of the year for California in general, the daily highs in the Big Bear Valley rarely get beyond the low to mid 80's (f). In the early and late portions of the summer season, the desert winds do come up in the late afternoon and blow through the Big Bear Valley, across the high mountain ridges East to West. Thunderstorms are also the norm in the months June through September.
Q: What is the smoking policy at Ceska Serenity? A: Ceska Serenity is a no smoking property. There is no smoking anywhere on the Ceska Serenity property. This includes the outside areas as well as the inside of the cabin. We apologize for any inconvenience, but the local San Bernardino County Fire Marshall and our property insurance underwriter mandate it.
Q: Can we bring our family pet? A: Yes, but please only single pets 50 lbs or less. Guests are responsible for any extra cleaning, or physical damage, caused by the visiting pet. Our reservation agents can answer any further questions you might have about bringing your pet.
Q: What else should we know about staying at Ceska Serenity? A: The Big Bear Lake Valley (7,040 ft), and particularly Ceska Serenity (7,400+ ft), are well over a mile in elevation. In fact the valley is higher than Denver Colorado, the "Mile High City" itself. That means the oxygen percentage in the air you breathe at that altitude is less. This causes people who aren't used to it to work harder at even the simplest activities. Please take it slow and make sure to drink pleanty of water... it's also dry up here year around, even when there is 6 feet of snow on the ground!
